School Counselors play important roles in our children’s lives. They help them cope up with their daily school lives, where events affect them at their tender age. School Counselors also work with parents, teachers, and administrators to create a successful learning and social environments, and to evaluate and resolve a large amount of student-related issues. Here are the guidelines on how to become a School Counselor:
You need to gain experience in counseling. Maybe participate in volunteer in counseling camps, phone hotlines, peer counselng and/or teaching.
Take a counseling undergraduate degree like Psychology, Social Work, etc.
Continue to develop a professional history with regards to counseling, such as taking secondary teaching credential
Take the required exams such as GRE or Miller analogy
Pursue a graduate degree related to counseling, such as Child Psychology
Gather information about certification and permits regarding counseling, on the state you are interested to work in.
